Less than a week after going on strike, unionized workers at the Lantic sugar refinery have worked out a contract argeement.
The five-year deal will cover 175 employees at the plant, who went on strike on May 31.
The union announced early Monday morning that employees would return to work immediately, and that the deal would come up for a vote in the next few days.
The previous contract between Lantic and its employees expired on Feb. 28.
Employees were asking for better wages. The contract offer gives them an 11.3% raise over five years.
The Lantic refinery is owned and operated by Rogers Sugar.
