The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is warning the public not to eat certain Lafleur brand Original wieners because they may be contaminated with Listeria bacteria.

Olymel L.P is recalling the wieners which were sold in a 450 gram package with a best before date of October 22 (and the universal product code 0 65305 02201 0).

Five cases of the product were distributed only in Quebec; in Montreal, Laval, Lanaudiere, Laurentides and Monteregie.

There have been no reported illnesses so far.

Food contaminated with Listeria may not look or smell spoiled but may cause listeriosis. The food-borne illness can cause high fever, severe headaches, neck stiffness and nausea.

Pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems are particularly at risk.
