Security was tight at the Montreal court house on Tuesday morning in advance of the expected court appearance by Earl Jones, the man who passed himself off as an investment advisor who is believed to have lost up to $50 million of investors' money.
He has been charged with four counts of theft and four counts of fraud as they relate to
James Heywood, Diane McLean, Christine Marlow, and the estate of James Harrison Ross.
More charges are expected as they relate to about 200 of Jones' investors are expected to be in the works.
"I believe that the police were in a position in at least these four files to say we have a case," said Boro. "But they're not in a position fully in other files to say there has been a fraud or a theft."
He said that until police could prove theft or fraud in the other cases, there would not be charges.
Boro believes Jones' will get bail.
"Even Bernie Madoff got bail," he said.
Jones is expected to appear around 2:30 p.m.
