Ten days after learning he would only be part of the reserve team, Laurent Ciman is now heading to Euro 2016, joining the Belgian team.

The event begins in France on June 10.

According to Belgian newspaper Le Soir, Ciman will meet his teammates in Switzerland on Monday on train.

On May 12, Belgian coach Marc Wilmots decided not to retain Ciman, a decision that had disappointed the Impact player. Wilmots, however, was forced to turn to Ciman after some defenders on the team became injured.

Belgium will play in Euro Group E, which includes Italy, Sweden and Ireland.

The first Belgian match will be held on June 13 against Italy. The group stage ends June 22 and the playoffs will begin on June 25. The final will be held on July 10.

The Impact, who said they would not object to seeing Ciman play for his country during Euro, are expected to react in a statement later on Sunday.
