The Quebec Transport Ministry (MTQ) is advising drivers to plan their routes before leaving on the long weekend as there will be multiple road closures due to constructions, fireworks and various Canada Day events on July 1.

July 1 is also moving day, so road users should be prepared for trucks, furniture on sidewalks and multiple tired people hauling sofas on streets and up stairs.

Fireworks

  • The International Loto-Quebec Fireworks are Thursday night and the Jacques Cartier Bridge will be closed in both directions from 8 p.m. to midnight.
  • The Ville-Marie and Viger tunnels (Ville-Marie Expressway) will also be closed, heading east between exit 4 (A-10, Victoria Bridge, Robert-Bourassa Blvd., de la Montagne St.) and Panet St.
  • Notre-Dame Street will also be closed east of the Jacques-Cartier Bridge.

Bonaventure Highway (A-10)

  • From Monday at 10 p.m. to Tuesday at 5 a.m., the Bonaventure Highway (A-10) east will be closed at exit 5 (Île-des-Soeurs).
  • In addition, one of two lanes will be closed in both directions on the span of the highway connecting Montreal to Nuns' Island.

Highway 30 (de l'Acier) - Beauharnois and Saint-Constant sectors

  • From Friday at 8 p.m. to Tuesday at 6 a.m., one lane will be open in each direction on Highway 30 at Beauharnois (in the Madeleine-Parent Bridge area) and at Saint-Constant (R-209 area).

Rose-de-Lima Street

  • In the Southwest borough, Rose-de-Lima Street is closed long-term between Saint-Antoine and Saint-Jacques streets and the Rose-de-Lima / Saint-Jacques intersection will close as of June 25.

Bridge Street (Montreal)

  • In the Sud-Ouest borough, one lane will be open in each direction on Bridge Street, between Mill and des Irlandais, until October 2024.

REM (Réseau express métropolitain)

  • On Saturday, June 29, and Sunday, June 30, as well as Monday, July 1, between 5:30 a.m. and 7:30 a.m., the REM service will be unavailable due to a systems update. Buses will provide service during this during this period.

In the event of adverse weather conditions or operational constraints, work may be cancelled or modified. Check Quebec511.info regularly for current and upcoming network disruptions.
