Guy Turcotte is going to appeal his guilty verdict for the murder of his two children.

His lawyers said their appeal will be based on what they deem to be errors in law made by the judge when delivering instructions to the jury, and when answering questions from the jury.

Turcotte is facing an automatic life sentence, but the court was due to announce on Jan. 15 how long he will spend in prison before being eligible for parole.

He has been behind bars since a jury found him guilty on Dec. 6, 2015.
