Plateau-Mont-Royal borough mayor and Montreal executive committee member Helen Fotopulos spent an evening watching a Montreal Canadiens game at the Bell Centre courtesy of CIMA+, an engineering firm that has had a number of contracts with the city.
According to a report published in La Presse, invitations had also been extended to other politicians -- including mayor Grald Tremblay -- on a number of occasions.
But Kazimir Olechnowicz, president of CIMA+, said Tremblay always declined.
Marc Snyder, a spokesperson for Fotopulos, confirmed in a telephone interview with CTV Montreal that she recently accepted a single invitation to watch a Canadiens game from the CIMA+ loge at the Bell Centre.
Snyder also confirmed that the city had granted several contracts to CIMA+, but said he did not know exactly how many.
According to the CIMA+ website, the company is "a multidisciplinary firm active in the fields of engineering, project management and new technologies."
