MONTREAL—During an evening headcount at the Ste-Anne-des-Plaines minimum security prison on Saturday, guards discovered that Alex Michaud-Robitaille had escaped.

The 27-year-old man was serving a two year sentence at the federal institution and had been in jail since April 11, 2012. Described as 1.74 metres tall and weighing 67 kilograms, Michaud-Robitaille has brown eyes and hair.

Corrections Canada is investigating along with the Surete du Quebec and the Terrebonne police.

Just north of Montreal, the federal prison complex in Ste-Anne-des-Plaines includes a number of different correctional units ranging from minimum security to Canada’s only super-maximum facility.
