The CEGEP Teachers' Alliance has negotiated a new contract with the bargaining committee that represents colleges.
Now it will go to individual teachers to be approved or rejected.
The agreement in principle was reached after a week of what are being described as intense negotiations between teachers and management, which wrapped up on Sunday.
This is not a complete contract: the deal does not include any agreement on salaries or pensions.
Pierre Girouard, president of the FEC-CSQ, said it looks like both sides will be happy with this contract, which includes a recognition that students with disabilties require extra work from teachers.
Delegations of teachers' unions will see the contract on Thursday, and then it will go to each union local for a vote.
