There is some progress being made in contract negotiations between the provincial government and labour unions--but at the same time, confirmation of another strike.
The FTQ workers union says it has reached an agreement in principle for support staff working in English and French school boards.
Union president Daniel Boyer said an entente has been reached in four of six areas, namely staff mobility, working hours, and conditions for temporary employees.
He said work still has to be done regarding wages and retirement packages.
Meanwhile several schools will be closed next Wednesday, Dec. 9, as those unions confirm a strike date.
The list includes French school boards and Vanier College. Students a the CEGEP, however, will not miss any classes, because school officials have decided that the classes that would be missed will take place on Friday Dec. 11 instead.
