MONTREAL - Local charity Dans la rue launched its annual fundraising campaign Wednesday, asking Montrealers to give this holiday season.

Founded by Father Emmett Johns, affectionately known as Pops, Dans la rue has been working to help street kids and high-risk youth for the past 22 years.

The group is raising money to run its shelter, day centre, and its motor home, which provides food and warmth to street kids in Montreal.

"This year we hope to raise $3 million, to be able to continue to be relevant on the street, and the continue to make a difference," said Dans la rue's executive director Aki Tchitacov
