Real estate agents have launched a class action lawsuit against DuProprio.
Quebec Superior Court ruled on Thursday that the lawsuit on behalf of the Quebec Federation of Real Estate Boards (FCIQ).
The FCIQ alleges that DuProprio has created advertisements filled with falsehoods that denigrate real estate agents and their work.
The real estate agents will now press for an injunction that forces DuProprio to stop distributing the commercials on all platforms -- radio, TV, internet and newspapers -- while the lawsuit proceeds.
DuProprio said the lawsuit isn't really about advertising, but about real estate agents trying to control an industry.
DuProprio, which helps owners sell homes themselves without real estate agents, has faced multple lawsuits from real estate agents and boards since its creation in 1997.
