Controversial French comedian Dieudonné has sold out all his shows in Montreal -- which upsets the mayor.

Dieudonné is the stage name of M'Bala M'Bala, and his name gained worldwide notoriety following the attacks on Charlie Hebdo last year.

The comedian has ten shows in Montreal next month at the Espace Mushagalusa, and every show in the 200-seat room is sold out.

Early Friday morning Montreal Mayor Denis Coderre called Dieudonné a hatemonger, and said he does not want the man to put on shows in Montreal.

Last year the comic was charged and convicted of defending terrorism for a Facebook post where he sympathized with the gunman who killed four people at a kosher supermarket it Paris.

Dieudonné had already been banned from performing in France because of his anti-Semitic performances.
