Bombardier is moving ahead with its plans to trim its workforce by seven-thousand workers over two years.

The company handed out more pink slips on Friday, though it declined to reveal exactly how many, or what aircraft programs would be affected.

Bombardier has previously said that up to 2,000, mainly in Canada and Europe, will be contractors.

A spokesman for the Montreal-based company says it's trying to ensure that as many of the job cuts as possible are mitigated by retirements or other efforts.

The union representing machinists says the uncertainty about efforts to save jobs is creating frustration for workers.

It warned last October that 10,000 Quebec aerospace jobs are at risk.

The layoffs come as Bombardier continues to press the feds for one-billion dollars in funding.
