Students are in their second day of camping on the grounds of the campus of CEGEP St. Laurent in a protest against the provincial government.

The small encampment of tents was first set up early Monday morning and gradually grew throughout the day. Anywhere from 60 to 100 people spent the night outdoors.

The CEGEP administration said that they would tolerate the protest and were in discussions to hammer out an agreement with the protesters, according to the school's communications director Louise Lavallée.

Camping protesters said they had no leader, no organizers, and had their own personal reasons for what they were calling the Occupy Everything protest.

Some said they were opposed to the spending decisions being made to balance the provincial budget, while others opposed police enforcing an injunction banning protests at UQAM.

Police were not consulted or involved in the process.

"The CEGEP is in solution mode," said Lavallée.

School officials met with the protesters on Monday and are scheduled to meet again on Tuesday.
