MONTREAL - Montreal's arson squad is at the scene of a deliberately set fire a few blocks away from Jarry Park.

Around 4:40 Friday morning a person who lives near the intersection of Jean-Talon and Alexandra streets was woken up by the sound of breaking glass.

Running to the window, they spotted flames coming from Village Lakasso, an African discotheque on Alexandra St.

The resident called 9-1-1, and firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the flames.

However while doing so they could easily smell the odour of gasoline or some other accelerant, so they brought in the arson squad to investigate.

This is the third arson in Montreal this week.
