Ahmad Nehme, 48, is under arrest in connection with the murder of a 44-year-old woman.

The woman was stabbed to death Thursday morning inside her home on Giovanni Caboto St. in LaSalle. It was the 15th homicide of 2012 in Montreal.

The woman's death, the result of what police are calling a domestic dispute, was confirmed at the scene.

Neighbour Denis Lacombe was out walking his dog near the home when he heard the macabre sounds of screaming.

“It was like Ahhh-h-h-h!,” he said. “Then I heard nothing else.”

Police confirmed that the woman could not be saved after suffering a series of stab wounds.

“She had injuries to the upper body and obviously they were bad enough that nothing could be done to save her life,” said police representative Yannick Ouimet.

There were two children, aged 12 and 14, on the scene when police arrived. They were taken into the care of police after the horrific event.

Police said that they did not immediately know whether the children had witnessed the murder.

Neighbours said that the couple did not stand out.

“They were just ordinary people,” said Nicole Arifoullinae. “We never thought something like that would happen. We saw them every morning.”

Another neighbour expressed sadness and shock at the violent event.

“I feel bad,” said heather Sheppard. “I don't see where any argument could be bad enough to kill somebody.”

When police arrived, the victim's hustand and two children were at the home.
