A woman is hospital after being struck by a train in the Southwest borough early Saturday morning.

At 2:00 a.m., the 23-year-old victim and a friend were crossing the tracks near De Courcelle St. and Acorn St. Two trains approached, each travelling in opposite directions.

The woman managed to avoid the first train but was struck by the second one.

She was taken to hospital but police said they do not fear for her life.

Police are investigating the incident but said the signal lights appeared to be operating normally at the time of the collision.
