MONTREAL - The Montreal Police's tactical intervention squad moved quietly through the falling snow on Thursday morning, arresting three in Montreal North after an apparent kidnapping.

The police raided an apartment building at the corner of Marie-Victorin Street and Langelier Boulevard before 8:00 a.m.

The story began last night when witnesses alerted the police that a young man was being kidnapped. The information provided by witnesses enabled police to locate the 18 year-old victim.

On location, the SPVM found the kidnap victim and 3 suspects, 2 men and 1 young woman, all of whom were arrested this morning.

The victim was held by his kidnappers for more than 10 hours. He was transported to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

The SPVM are trying to determine the motives related to the kidnapping, at this point they seem to think the victim may have had a drug debt with the suspects.

Police are still not confirming whether the suspects were part of a street gang.

More arrests could be made during the day.
