Police are investigating after a man was killed in Laval.
People called 9-1-1 Tuesday evening to report a man in his twenties had fallen down an exterior staircase on Levesque Blvd. E between Champagnat and St-Laurent Aves.
But when authorities arrived they realized the man's injuries were much more serious, and that he had been stabbed or shot, then left for dead.
Attempts to revive the man were unsuccessful and he died at the scene.
The 22-year-old man has been identified and some members of his family have been notified.
Franco Di Genova said the man is not known to police and has never had any previous run-ins with the law.
Police remained at the scene overnight and spoke to witnesses while they investigated the crime.
Officers will talk to those witnesses again on Wednesday.
