Two years after he was suspended with pay, a Sureté du Quebec officer is facing charges of fraud, conspiracy, and dealing in stolen goods.

SQ officer Peter De Castris was suspended in 2013 after a a Beaconsfield city planner was beaten with a baseball bat by two people at the Summerlea Golf Course in Vaudreuil.

De Castris bought a house on Lakeshore Rd. in Beaconsfield in 2009 for $500,000 and sold it in 2013 for $1.3 million. The sale came right before the beating of Beaconsfield city planning official Denis Chabot at the Summerlea golf course in Vaudreuil, and around the same time De Castris was requesting zoning changes in orger to make upgrades to his luxurious home.

De Castris and three others were arrested then but never charged with anything until Friday, when he and Dominic De Castris, Robert Brunet, and Gian "Johnny" Digirolamo, were charged with:.

  • dealing in stolen goods
  • fraud
  • conspiracy
  • criminal harassment
  • theft of more than $5,000
  • extortion

Officers from the municipal arm of UPAC, the provincial anti-corruption unit, arrested the four men Friday morning. UPAC won't say what exactly led to the accusations.

The SQ says De Castris is still considered a police officer. He will be suspended with pay until he is convicted.
