Wesley Rigoberto Sosa Murillo, a 35-year-old from Chambly who allegedly made an online threat against PQ MNA and media mogul Pierre-Karl Peladeau has been arrested and criminally charged, the Surete du Quebec has confirmed.

Murillo was brought to the courthouse in St. Jean Wednesday and charged with inciting a criminal act and was then freed pending his next court hearing.

The arrest came after Murillo allegedly posted the phrase: "Somebody please shoot PKP," on social media. It was removed soon after.

The Hispanic Montreal-area hip hop artist identified himself as Sosa El Gambino on Facebook and Twitter, profiles that had disappeared by Thursday, but only after he used the social media platforms to apologize to Peladeau and police.

Peladeau last week confirmed what many had been expecting -- that he will seek the leadership of the Parti Quebecois.

The new party leader will be chosen in May 2015, with the next Quebec election to be held in September 2018.
