A seven-year-old girl has died following a snowmobile crash in the Mauricie region of Quebec.

Audrey-Anne Bilodeau of the Surete du Quebec said the girl was a passenger on a snowmobile that flipped over Sunday afternoon when the driver tried to cross Lepine St. in Clova, a village about 400 km north of Montreal.

The girl was first taken to the hospital in Parent, about 100 km away by road, and then to a hospital in La Tuque where she died of her injuries.

The SQ has sent a crash reconstruction team to the village in order to determine exactly what happened.
