Montreal police evacuated a high school Wednesday afternoon while they dealt with a suspicious package.

Officers said that around 12:45 p.m. a man entered the Pere Marquette High School and began uttering threats while holding something odd in a backpack.

There were no children in the building, only adult employees of the school, and they evacuated the building.

Police arrested the man in his 40s at the scene and questioned him about his actions.

The mystery package was left inside the building to be dealt with by the bomb squad. It was later determined not to be harmful.

Bellechasse and Marquette Sts. are off-limits to traffic until police give the all-clear.

Nobody was hurt.
