Three dozen firefighters rushed to a fire an apartment building in Rosemont on Tuesday morning.

The fire broke out on the rooftop terrasse of the building at the corner of Saint André St. and Rosemont Blvd.

They were able to get the fire under control within half an hour, and there was no damage to the interior of the building.

Firefighters are still determining the cause, but it appears the fire was started when a smoker tried to extinguish a cigarette in a potted plant.

In the past few weeks several fires have been started by smokers stubbing out butts in plants, only to be surprised that the plants catch fires.

One of those fires destroyed a house and damaged two other buildings.
