MONTREAL- Hockey scouts are always looking for two-way players who know how to maintain their position.

Being able to score is an added bonus. So maybe it's time for them to look at ringette player Emma Gallagher.

The West Island teenager plays Junior B for the Pointe Claire Ringette Association, and has been on the ice since she was seven years old.

She's a playmaker who feels right at home playing centre.

"I'm offensive and defensive but I do like to score," said Emma.

Her scoring touch emerged this season and in her teams first seven games she scored 17 goals.

It's made everyone sit up and take notice.

"With her recent success in goal scoring, every goal that goes in she gets more confident and is willing to take more chances to help the team," said Mady Virgona.

"She is incredibly aggressive and driven when she wants to get that ring she gets it," said Marcela Donoso.

When the ice is melted Emma returns to her first love, soccer, and finds that balancing her schedule can be tough.

"I hate having to miss ringette or soccer, whether it's a practice, game or a try-out, but you have to prioritize," said Emma.

Her dedication, consistent play and skill makes her a leader and other players find themselves working harder when she's on the rink.

"I always try to work my hardest when I'm on Emma's line because she's so good," said Emily Long.

"She always works hard when she's with us and gives us good passes and everything and she's a good team player."

That team play is encouraged in ringette, where passing is a bigger part of the rules than in hockey.

It's something that Emma loves about the sport.

"I try to lead by example. So I try to give it as much as I can in practice or in games," said Emma.
