MONTREAL- Bennet Toman, 14, claims that his stomach is butterfly-free before performing double axles and triple toe loops in front of judges.

The 2011 Pre-Notice Canadian figure skating champion simply gets swept away by his passion for the sport.

"I love skating so I don't care what happens to me," he said. "I just love to go out and perform."

His relaxed ways add to his performance, according to coach Daniel Beland.

"I think he's a real showman. He's a fun kid and it shows on the ice."

It hasn't always been easy for him of his parents, who watched him in an incubator after he was born 10 weeks premature.

"For most parents of premature babies they'll say it's the worst and the best experience," said mother Natalie Toman. "It's emotional but then you say, ‘Hey I have a little miracle on my hands.'"

Father Bob Toman realized that the sport is tougher than it looks.

"Since he's been skating I realized that it's not only a ridiculously hard sport but it's one of the most physically demanding sports that you can be in," said Toman.

And Bennet concedes that in spite of his easy-going ways, it's not an easy sport to master.

"You have to be strong mentally and physically," he said. "You need momentum to jump and spin. You need to work really hard."
