Police divers have taken to the waters of the Lachine Canal in an attempt to find a man who jumped in at around St. Remi at 6 a.m. Monday morning.

In spite of extensive searching, no sign had been found of the man as of noon in the waters between Cote St. Paul and St. Henri.

The man is feared drowned.

Dozens of lives have been claimed in the canal over the decades, the most recent of which is believed to have occurred in 2012.
