MONTREAL - A man in his twenties was apprehended by police around 2:30 p.m. Friday at Greene and Sherbrooke in Westmount following reports that he was seen transporting a rifle while traveling on his bicycle. 

It was later discovered that he was merely armed with a pellet gun which he was carrying to his parents' home.

He was not arrested and will not be charged with any crime.

Police said that their response was standard procedure for such situations.
