Three Montreal men didn't hesitate when they saw a woman lying on the tracks at the Jarry metro station.

The incident took place on Thursday March 12, 2015, around 11:45 p.m. and a recording of the incident was posted on Facebook by Andre Creel.

He told CTV Montreal "we were at the metro. At the time we didn't seen how she fell."

"People started screaming saying there was a person laying down at the floor while [the metro] was coming. Instinctively I decided to help her out," said Creel.

"I jumped through the rails and tried to wake her up Then friends helped me bring her back up."

Montreal police say someone else at the station called authorities on the blue emergency phone to say there were people on the tracks.

When emergency officials arrived the woman was taken to hospital.

The STM is still trying to determine how the woman ended up on the tracks.

Marvin Rotrand, the vice-chair of the STM, said he is glad the incident ended well.

"The good news is that all ended well. A lady fell on the track . Within a number of minutes Urgences Santé was on the site and she was taken to hospital. That's the good news," said Rotrand.

But Rotrand said the men who jumped onto the tracks were putting their lives in danger.

"There's high voltage live current on the track and it's easy for someone to get, at the very least, a very severe shock or possibly a fatal jolt," said Rotrand.

"What you should do in that situation is use the emergency phone that's on the quay to alert the STM and in a situation of danger like that, to pull the handle that immediately cuts the current."

"It's explained clearly at the handle how to use it and it would immediately cut the current on the track," said Rotrand.

He said that someone did call the STM about the woman on the tracks, and that the driver of the train entering the station was able to cut the current, and stop a fair distance from the people on the track.
