MONTREAL - Ten people were forced from their homes and a building on Monkland Ave. suffered serious damage on Wednesday afternoon after a fire broke out at Lucille's Oyster Dive.

Over 90 firefighters battled the flames for three hours before the four-alarm fire was brought under control. The first call to the Montreal fire department was made at 12:07 p.m. after the blaze broke out in the restaurant's kitchen.

Opened in 2009, Lucille's bright blue neon sign was quickly becoming a mainstay of the Monkland Village.

While no injuries were reported, a cobbler and jeweller on the building's first floor and a number of apartments on the second floor were damaged.

With the Red Cross on site, tenants were not allowed to re-enter their apartments.
