Montreal police are investigating what they’re calling a suspicious death in the Gay Village.

A call was placed around 10 p.m. Thursday for a man in cardiac arrest at an apartment on Ste. Catherine St. near Montcalm St.

Paramedics arrived at the home and declared the 34-year-old man dead at the scene.

Police say elements at the scene led them to believe the death was suspicious. Around 3 a.m. Friday, a 30-year-old man was detained near the scene. Police consider him to be an important witness and say they will question him.
