The work to dismantle what remains of the St. Jacques Bridge begins Friday evening and will continue throughout Thanksgiving weekend.

As of 10 p.m. Friday Oct. 7, all northbound lanes of Highway 15 through the Turcot, as well as the ramps connecting the Decarie Expressway to the Ville Marie East, will be closed.

The Ville Marie ramp to Highway 15 North will also be closed.

The earliest entrance to Highway 15 north will be at Sherbrooke St.

They will reopen on Tuesday Oct. 11 at 5 a.m.

Those trying to head north should avoid the Turcot area entirely. Their best option may be either Highway 25 or Highway 13.

Drivers trying to get downtown will have to take Highway 20 West until the Angrignon exit, at which point they can loop around and head east.

They will, however, encounter other problems.

The other major construction project taking place this weekend entails the closure of the Ville Marie Tunnel.

Drivers heading east will be forced off Highway 720 at the Mountain St./St. Jacques St. Exit, while those heading west will have to exit at Panet St.

Work starts at 11:59 p.m. Friday and is expected to last until 5 a.m. Tuesday.

Traffic will be diverted to St. Antoine St. or René Levesque Blvd.

Crews are removing the sun-blocking paralumes that sit atop the highway between St. Laurend Blvd. and St. Urbain St. as they prepare to cover the highway east of the tunnel and create a park near the CHUM superhospital.
