One lane of the Jacques Cartier Bridge will be closed for the next two weeks.

Crews are reinforcing the steel structure of the bridge this summer and for the next few months, and need to close a lane and the sidewalk for the next phase of construction.

The sidewalk on the Montreal-bound side of the bridge closed Friday morning and will remain closed until Friday Aug. 19.

One lane of the Montreal-bound span will be closed at 8 a.m. Saturday and remain closed until 5 a.m. Aug. 19.

The Bridge Corporation says there will be other closures in the upcoming weeks and months.

Bonaventure closures

Coming into Montreal via the Bonaventure Expressway will be difficult for the rest of the month.

Exit 2, towards downtown via Pierre Dupuy Ave., will close at 11:50 p.m. Friday Aug. 5. and will only re-open on Monday at 5 a.m.

Mill Rd., aka Des Moulins, will also close Friday night, but it will remain closed until Tuesday Aug. 30 at midnight.

Drivers will face detours via other streets in the neighbourhood.

Earlier this year crews began dismantling the elevated portion of the Bonaventure Expressway on the downtown side of the Lachine Canal.
