Scorching heat couldn't keep some hockey players from playing a bit of shinny on Monday.

The sixth annual Five Hole For Food drew ball hockey players of all ages to the  Uniprix Stadium.

The goal of the coast-to-coast tournament is to give a boost to local food banks.

Montreal was the fifth stop on the tour and all donated food will go to Moisson Montreal.

Founder Richard Loat said the event comes at a crucial time for many foodbanks.

“The summertime is when food banks actually receive the fewest amount of donations, as the stockpiles they raise during Christmas and Thanksgiving tend to run out,” he said. “We have an opportunity to fill that gap, which I think is really important.”

Since its start the tournament has raised over a million pounds of food.
