Guy Turcotte will not be challenging his guilty verdict for the murder of his two children.

Crown spokesperson René Verret confirmed he had been informed of Turcotte's decision not to appeal being found guilty of second-degree murder.

He said that Turcotte will, however, appeal the length of the time he must serve before being eligible for parole.

Turcotte's defence team would neither confirm nor deny the information.

The verdict came down one year ago, and in January Turcotte was sentenced to life in prison without parole for 17 years.

This past September defence lawyer Pierre Poupart was warned by the Court of Appeal that he was late in filing court documents for an appeal.

Turcotte was found not guilty in his first trial, but that verdict was overturned by a higher court and Turcotte was ordered to undergo a second trial.

Turcotte killed Anne-Sophie and Olivier, aged three and five, on Feb. 20, 2009.
