An autopsy has led to the identification of a body found in a remote wooded area of the Laurentians on Friday night and authorities say it appears foul play was involved.

Police said the body was that of 30-year-old Marielle Portelance of Hawkesbury, Ont. She was found on a public road near Cook's Lake in the town of Grenville-Sur-La-Rouge.

According to the Sureté du Quebec, the body was recently deceased and it is being investigated as a homicide, though the exact circumstances of the death have yet to be determined.

No suspects have been arrested.
