Montreal's 8,000 white collar workers begin rotating strikes at the end of January.

They belong to the Quebec Federation of Labour, and their union issued a timeline for rotating strikes by department and by borough.

That includes working in the police department, taxi bureau, and finance department.

The strikes will start on Jan. 25 and end on March 1st with a 24-hour mass strike.

During the next five weeks the white collar workers will also refuse to perform overtime.

They will, however, perform all their essential services as required by law, and on several weekends nobody will be on strike.

Unionized workers say the Coderre administration is relying too much on outside contractors.

White collar workers in the city of Montreal have not had a contract for the past four years.
