The United Soccer League is endorsing the actions taken by the Montreal Impact against their wayward player.
Sandro Grande was initially suspended, and then had his contract cancelled after he attacked and choked the team's captain, Mauro Biello, during a game on July 11.
Grande put up a fight against being fired, and filed a complaint with the League saying he had the right to be paid until the end of next season.
The League disagrees, saying he deserved to be fired because of his in-game actions.
Meanwhile the Impact may be joining Major League Soccer.
Right now Toronto FC is the only Canadian team that's part of the MLS, but Vancouver is set to join the league in 2011.
Now MLS commissioner Don Garber says Montreal will likely become the 19th team in the league.
Montreal could have joined earlier, but Impact president Joey Saputo refused to pony up the $40 million necessary.
There are reports Vancouver and Portland had to pay a $35 million expansion fee, and Montreal would be asked to do the same.
With the money out of the way, the largest barrier remaining would be be increasing the number of seats in Saputo stadium.
Built last year, Saputo Stadium can hold 13,000 fans, and the MLS wants to put 21,000 bums in the seats.
