MONTREAL - Montreal police are investigating two unrelated arson attacks that happened early Thursday morning.
The first attack happened in a Montreal North triplex on Peter Curry near St. Michel.
"The suspect threw a heavy object through a window, then tossed in a Molotov cocktail," said Const. Olivier Lapointe.
"But a resident picked up the Molotov cocktail and threw it back outside."
Because of the resident's quick actions, damage was limited to the shattered glass.
The residents of the building are not known to police, and could not tell authorities why someone would try to burn down their home.
Girouard & Monkland firebombing
Meanwhile firefighters rushed to the Au Premier hair salon at the corner of Girouard and Monkland in NDG at 2:35 in the morning because the fire alarm was going off.
They arrived to find a window smashed, and a Molotov cocktail hurled into the building.
Firefighters extinguished the flames, then transferred the case to the arson squad.
Nobody was hurt in either attack.
