The man suspected of killing a Montreal taxi driver is facing charges of second-degree murder.
43-year-old Michel Duchaussoy was arrested Thursday evening night in Boucherville by Longueuil police under suspicion of shooting Ziad Bouzid in his in taxi cab on Tuesday night.
According to police Duchaussoy pulled out a shotgun and attacked Bouzid for reasons that are unclear. Investigators spent the night interrogating Duchaussoy and say at this point they have ruled out theft as a motive, but that he has no clear "psychological problems" that could be to blame for the attack.
Officers say Bouzid picked up Duchaussoy and a woman at a Tim Hortons in Dorval. Police are not saying if the woman was present at the time of the murder, but say she is co-operating with the investigation.
"At this time, she's considered a witness, based on all the information that we were able to gather. That's not to say that it won't change, but at this point she's considered a witness only," said Patrice Carrier of the Major Crimes Unit.
It appears Duchaussoy had no fixed address and used public transit and taxis on a regular basis.
To date no weapon has been found.
