Montreal police have suspended their search for a 23-year-old Ahuntsic woman who has been missing since early Monday morning.

Investigators suspect foul play in Cinthia Toussaint's disappearance.

Toussaint, the mother of a three-year-old boy, was supposed to meet her ex-boyfriend at the Taz skateboarding park in St. Michel, located at the corner of Papineau and Emile-Journault Aves.

Police scoured the area surrounding the skateboarding park and set up a command post. They announced Wednesday afternoon that they were calling off the search. Any further searches will depend on what information is gathered in the ongoing investigation.

The ex-boyfriend is the father of her young son.

"There have been reports that the relationship between them was not good. However, she would meet him here (…) to discuss their son and other ongoing issues between them," CTV reporter Caroline van Vlaardingen said.

Toussaint never showed up for the meeting with her ex.

A friend who tried to call her repeatedly became concerned when she didn't answer her phone. She had dropped him off earlier at the corner of Belanger St. and 27th Avenue.

Montreal police Const. Raphael Bergeron said they have no reason to believe Toussaint's friend or ex-boyfriend are connected to her disappearance.

"We met with both people, but nothing comes up. They're just considered as witnesses," Bergeron said.

Ex-boyfriend harassed her: family

Toussaint's family said jealousy between her ex-boyfriend and current boyfriend has been a concern, and that her ex-boyfriend beat her and harassed her.

"He followed her everywhere, sent her text messages constantly and threatened her new boyfriend," said sister Marie-Genise Toussaint.

CTV attempted to contact Toussaint's ex-boyfriend, Mario Romain, but his mother told reporter van Vlaardingen he wasn't home.

"I can't explain how difficult this is for us, but I do know that my daughter was caught in a love triangle," said father Resius Toussaint.

Family, friends devastated

"We're all torn up over this because it's hard to understand," said Toussaint's neighbour Lisa Barrett.

Toussaint's family said it's not like her to leave them or her little boy.

"It's been three days of hell," said Resius Toussaint. "My grandson says, 'I want to see my mother, I want to see my mother.' I say, ‘Me too. I want to see my daughter.' It's too hard to go on without any news."

Description

Toussaint is 5'6" and weighs 135 pounds.

She was last seen wearing a black short-sleeved sweater, a black jacket with gold buckles, blue jeans and black shoes.

Toussaint also has several tattoos: an angel on the small of her back, a flower and her name on her right shoulder blade, and the name Jay Marion on her right calf.
