The fire department paid a visit to La Ronde amusement park Monday afternoon when a roller coaster stalled while patrons were on the ride.

The Monster, the highest double-track wooden roller coaster in the world, stalled around 2:30 p.m. while carrying 26 riders: one was an adult and the rest were adolescents.

Spokesperson Martin Roy said the ride was checked in the morning and nothing unusual was found.

The fire department was called in to rescue the riders, who walked down the coaster. They were stuck for more than an hour. No one was hurt.

The Monster was built in 1985, and the second run was renovated in 1986.

La Ronde opened for the season on Saturday.
