MONTREAL - Alexis Galarneau might only be a mere dozen years of age but he's already visualizing the rest of his days.

Canada's top tennis player in the 12-and-under category wants to earn his keep by smacking balls.

"I'd like to play tennis all my life," he said "It's my passion. You make money playing your favourite game."

Galarneau's aptitudes were immediately evident when his brother put a racquet in his hand when he was just eight.

He then began spending 25 hours a week training at the Nuns' Island Tennis Club and the championship trophies and medals started to crowd his shelves.

He recently also became Canada's champ for the 12-and-under category.

The effort requires considerable time management, according to his mother Chantal Denis.

"It's very hard," she said. "We want him to be very good in school. He want to be good in tennis, and we want him to have a social life too."

His coach is bullish on Galarneau's potential.

"He's one of my favourite players to coach, he gives a good effort" said Jean-Francois Mathieu. "His potential is limitless and only depends on him and the hard work he puts in."
