New Delhi - Jennifer Abel nailed a gold, while Emilie Heymens won bronze, in the women's 1 metre springboard diving competition at the Commonwealth Games.

Abel, of Laval, made several spectacular dives earning near-perfect marks for a total of 301.75 points, pushing her ahead of Australian Sharleen Stratton and her South Shore teammate Heymans, who placed third with a score of 296.10.

Otterburn Park's Carol-Ann Ware placed 9th with 243.65.

Heymans and Abel won gold earlier in the week in the 3m synchronized dive.
