MONTREAL - This week the great debates swirling around Quebec concerned unilingual anglophones holding positions of power and prestige. allegations that the Liberal party mishandled licenses for daycare spots, and Monday's byelection in Bonaventure.
Our political panel, Don Macpherson and Jean Lapierre discussed this and more in our Friday round table debate.
Macpherson said the hunt for unilingual anglophones is now going on at all levels.
"I think it's a cover for plain old fashioned anglo bashing," said Macpherson.
Lapierre said the hype and fervour was misplaced.
"I'm starting to sense that even with the Banque Nationale.. this guy [John B. Cieslak] was in charge of IT, and frankly I couldn't care less."
