MONTREAL - Police on the South Shore shot a man armed with a sword Monday afternoon.

The incident began around 12 p.m. a man holding a sword was spotted walking in Carignon.

Witnesses called police, and when officers tried to talk to the man he fled on foot.

The chase ended in a driveway on Bouthillier St., where officers opened fire, saying the man made a threatening move towards them.

The man was hit in the leg, and his life is not in danger.

The Surete du Quebec has now taken over the investigation.
