A long police chase didn't work, but officers finally tracked down a suspect wanted for an attempted murder in Cote St. Luc.

The incident began at 7 p.m. Thursday near Borden Ave. and Fleet St. in Cote St. Luc when people called 9-1-1 to report explosions and a detonation.

Police later said that a 48-year-old man approached a 58-year-old man and opened fire with a gun before fleeing in a car.

Witnesses were able to give a good description of the suspect's vehicle, which police located and chased.

The suspect hit another car around 10 p.m. then jumped out and dashed down Decarie St.

After several hours of searching police were unable to locate the man with their dragnet, however overnight they managed to find the suspect at a residence in Laval.

Police say the suspect hasd a lengthy criminal past. He is expected to appear in court Friday to face charges of attempted murder.
