Police are investigating after Molotov cocktails were hurled into several establishments in Montreal early Wednesday morning.

The first arson attempt was at Bar Primetime around 6 a.m.

An arsonist smashed a window and threw a bottle containing flammable liquid into the bar at 5008 Park Ave.

The second Molotov cocktail was used at 6:35 a.m. at Cafe Ciociaro, located at 52 St. Viateur St. W. near St. Urbain St.

In both cases the fires were quickly extinguished and damage was minor.

Nobody was injured in either fire, and it's not clear if firefighters were needed to put out the flames or if they died on their own.

On Wednesday afternoon investigators said they believed both fires were linked, even thought they were uncertain about the motive.

The owners of the establishments are not known to police.

Meanwhile thieves stole a car in LaSalle overnight and set it on fire a few minutes later.

The car was stolen shortly before midnight and taken to the parking lot of a Jean Brillon St. warehouse.

Multiple people called 9-1-1 to report the burning car.

Police do not know at this point if the theft and fire were random or not.
