The school year has only just begun, but it seems the first lesson students at Ahuntsic College are receiving is how to react in case of emergency.

Montreal police evacuated the school at 4 o'clock Friday afternoon after they were notified of a threat.

They searched the school after someone sent a threatening note to someone in the school.

According to Constable Olivier Lapointe, nobody has been injured in any way.

"There were some threats and we are now evacuating the school. No one was injured."

Around 5 p.m. police allowed students to return to the building, and announced that a 21-year-old man had been arrested in Dorval.

Multiple Incidents

There were several fights and worrying incidents on campus last year.

In October 2008, a group of teenagers entered the cegep armed with sticks and clubs.

When security guards intervened, the men threatened to kill the guards.

Two 18-year-old men were charged in court.

In September, five men were arrested, then released, after a brawl outside campus.

Witnesses at the time said guns were fired, but police were not able to confirm that.

At the time of that attack, the school was not evacuated, because the fight was happening off school grounds.

Ahuntsic College is on St. Hubert St. and Emilie Journault Avenue in the Ahuntsic-Cartierville borough.
